Solar Decathlon 2007 is an international project sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). Twenty student teams from universities and colleges across the North America and Europe compete to design, build, and display a highly energy-efficient solar-powered home.
The competition takes place October 12th-20th, 2007 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. It is here that the 20 teams will assemble their homes and display a "solar village" to the public.
As first time decathletes, ALOeTERRA views this project as an opportunity to help soothe and heal the environment by promoting energy efficiency and the use of renewable resources. Our team is constructing a home using products and systems that are currently on the market and available for purchase by the general public. We believe that while the scope of the competition house is limited, the concepts from our home can be implemented most anywhere.
